High school debate clubs

Courses

Debate clubs are an attractive way of introducing students to economic issues and ideas, and for improving cognitive and expressive skills.

The quality of public discussion in Israel leaves a lot to be desired.

The subjects that are discussed and the arguments made are generally one-sided.

This is why public debate of economic issues, especially, is absent or poor.

ICESP has set up a group of debate clubs that give high achievement youth the tools to a more open, civilized and relevant discussion, with the hope that they will change Israeli public policy debate. The project will operate in 20 to 40 high schools throughout Israel. Students will later compete in national and international debate tournaments. The basic purpose, however, is to raise the consciousness of Israeli students about economic issues and to give them the tools for knowledgeable discussion.
